Wow, how a few hours can change everything...

So I last blogged about how much fun we had on Emily's birthday...that was Saturday. On Sunday afternoon, Beau took the girls to a park & lake with his parents. I stayed on home to work. I got a call about 5:15 from Beau asking me where the closest hospital was. Emily had broken her arm. He rushed to Unity, I jumped on my bike and rode over. She was playing on the monkey bars, which have been her favorite, and fell off, putting her hand down to catch herself. After a few hours of waiting in the ER, X-Rays were taken and an orthopedic surgeon was on his way to perform surgery to get the bone back in place. At 10:15pm she went under and came out of it at 11:05. He didn't have to acutally open up her arm, and was able to set the arm and put in 3 pins. We'll go back in 3 weeks to get the pins out and then another cast for 3-4 weeks.

What a scary time for Mom. I was so worried about my girl. She's never had anything medically done; no shots, no needles, nothing. The IV was terrible. I was crying as much as she was. She also got a shot of Morphine which again, was no fun. It is just so hard to see your child in pain when you are able to do nothing for them, but hold them. She kept saying, "I didn't mean to break my arm. I didn't try to fall." Which of course we know, she's just a tender, compassionate little girl.

She and I stayed overnight in the hospital and came home around 10am on Monday. We spent the day mostly in bed watching Disney Channel. Tuesday she did better, able to do a few things on her own. Today was much better. She was a little sick this morning, probably from the pain meds, but after getting over that, she was up and about. She is a little trooper.

Thanks to all for your continued prayers for a speedy recovery for Emily.
